Tower Story
This is one of the best-known towers in the world. At a height of 1,092 feet (333 meters), it used to be the world’s tallest self-supporting steel tower. Since its opening in 1958, it has become well known to visitors around the world, as the symbol of Tokyo as an international city. Various gauges and instruments mounted on top of the tower monitor the condition of the air above Tokyo and the traffic conditions in the streets below. This iconic red tower is illuminated at night, and the colors and styles change to complement the seasons, and for major events.
Observation Deck
There are two observation decks to choose from: Main deck at 150m, and Top Deck at 250m. In 2018, Tokyo Tower marks its 60th anniversary since opening and started a new attraction “Top Deck Tour.” It provides a sense of floating in the sky and that has been designed in accordance with an image of The Future of Tokyo and the Future of Observation Decks. Reservations made on the Advance Reservation System provide a tour that can be joined with a multilingual voice guide system in 13 languages, a drink service, a photo-card gift and, more importantly, warm hospitality from attendants.
