Tower Story

Tian Ta, namely the combination of the first and the last Chinese characters of “Tianjin Guangbo Dianshi Ta” (Tianjin Radio & TV Tower), is the shortened form of Tianjin Radio & TV Tower. With a total height of 415.2 meters, it occupies an area of 300 mu and ranks number six in Asia and number three in China in terms of height. Completed in 1991, it stands high above the blue sky and white clouds as the unique “tower in water” in the world. It is like a sword jostling the sky and honored as “a tower surrounded by clouds”. The tourist area is divided into four stories: the 248-meter Sightseeing Hall, the 253-meter Observation Hall, the 257-meter Revolving Hall and the 270-meter Terrace. If you look out as far as you could on the tower, you could catch the panorama of the City of Tianjin. Close to your eyes, there is the panoramic view of the Water Park; far away, you could appreciate skyscrapers in neat order. If you climb up the tower at dusk, you could enjoy a special interest while embracing the twilight and watching lights from thousands of households gradually illuminating the city.
