Tower Story
Kuala Lumpur Tower is managed by LSH Service Master Sdn. Bhd. It is the tallest telecommunications tower in South East Asia and the seventh tallest in the world. Kuala Lumpur Tower, was built to improve the quality of telecommunications and broadcasting transmissions in Kuala Lumpur and the surounding areas. However, other than managing telecommunications, radio and broadcasting, Kuala Lumpur Tower is also known as a "must visit" tourist destination in Kuala Lumpur.
The construction of Kuala Lumpur Tower began on 4 October 1991 and was completed in May 1996. The tower was opened to the public on 23 July 1996 and it was officially launched on 1 October 1996 by Y.A.B. Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur Tower has now become one of the most significant landmark to Malaysia, a symbol of the nation’s advancement and development on the world stage.
Located atop Bukit Nanas at a breathtaking height of 421 meters, Kuala Lumpur Tower was built, blending the tower seamlessly with nature. Bukit Nanas is one of the oldest permanent forest reserves in Malaysia. It was gazette in 1906 and was formerly known as Bucket Weld Forest Reserve. Covering an area of approximately 9.37 hectares, Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve is the only remaining virgin tropical rainforest in the heart of the city of Kuala Lumpur. Serving as the green lung of the city, Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve is also home to an abundant of flora and fauna of the Malaysian tropical rainforest. In fact, Kuala Lumpur Tower is the only tower in the world located within a forest!
Observation Deck
A trip to Kuala Lumpur Tower will not be complete without a visit to the Observation Deck for a breath taking 360° view of the Kuala Lumpur city skyline from 276m above ground.
If you are not too afraid of heights, take a step out onto the Sky Terrace, an outdoor open-air viewing platform, which allows you to enjoy an unobstructed view of the magnificent Kuala Lumpur skyline at 300m above ground.
Glass Box is a Glass Box which was built at the Sky Terrace. As you step into the Glass Box, feel the thrill as if you are floating in the air at 300m above ground.
