Soaring 170 metres above Portsmouth harbour and the Solent, the Spinnaker Tower is taller than the London Eye and the Blackpool Tower. Spinnaker Tower opened to the general public in October 2005 and it has already established itself as a national icon for Great Britain. A world class visitor attraction, the much-admired, elegant viewing Tower stands proud over one of the most fascinating seascapes in the world. It offers amazing 360º panoramic views of Portsmouth over three viewing decks with full floor to ceiling glazed panoramas.

The project was funded jointly by the local authority and The Millennium Commission as the final phase of restoration of Portsmouth's harbour development. The project converted a disused part of the naval base in to an aspirational accommodation and leisure destination.
