The following industry leaders form the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Great Towers.
Executive Director – WFGT
Daniel Thomas is the current Executive Director of the WFGT, headquartered out of Chicago. He left his home country of New Zealand in 2007 to take over the general manager position for John Hancock Observatory. Under his leadership, he rejuvenated the brand, significantly boosted attendance and financial performance, and drove innovation in Chicago’s highly competitive tourism market with the creation of Skating in the Sky, the world’s highest synthetic skating rink.
Daniel has played a leadership role for the WFGT since 2007, where he was elected to its Executive Committee while running Sky Tower in Auckland.
Since relocating to Chicago from New Zealand, Daniel has also been elected to the Board of Directors of the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, is active on its finance committee and co-chairs the marketing division. In addition, he recently co-chaired the Illinois Governor’s Conference on Travel & Tourism.
Prior to this, he held senior management positions within two of New Zealand’s leading public companies: Air New Zealand and SKYCITY Entertainment Group. In July 2007, Daniel founded Tourism Solutions, a tourism and attractions consulting firm aimed at helping tourism businesses with their strategy, brand, marketing and operational and financial performance.Daniel can be contacted at [email protected]
Executive Committee – China
Lei Sun (Sophie) is the general manager of China’s Sichuan Tower, and was elected to the Executive Committee in 2011. Sophie plays a critical role in ensuring that WFGT members from China and abroad are fully informed, and that we communicate as one voice despite the potential language barriers.

Executive Committee – North America
Mr. Ghazi joined the Empire State Building in March 2008. As director of ESRT Observatory TRS, L.L.C. he is responsible for all aspects of the business. With a proven track record of driving sales, profitability, service quality and guest satisfaction, Mr. Ghazi has spearheaded innovative marketing strategies, new product innovations and operational enhancements at the Empire State Building Observatory. Under his leadership, the Observatory continues to set new record admissions, revenues and profits.
Prior to him joining the Empire State Building, Mr. Ghazi was an integral member of Sodexho’s leisure division for over 14 years, leading harbor cruise businesses throughout the United States.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE – BRATISLAVA
Dano has been an active member of WFGT since 2005, when the UFO watch.taste.groove. tower entered the Federation. In addition to being an active member in the Federation, he is also the founder of Storm Promotion (1996), a BTL agency that operates in Central Europe.
He is also the founder of RedMonkeyGroup (1999), a company with a new and sophisticated approach to the gastronomy, catering and consultancy services in Slovakia. Finally, he is an organizer and promoter of the WFGT Towerrunning Challenge—the first common worldwide project for WFGT members—and also serves as sports director for the Towerrunning World Association.Daniel can be contacted at [email protected]
Executive Committee – Germany
Christina has held the role of managing director, Berlin TV Tower since 2007 and has an extensive background in the hospitality industry.
Her previous work experience includes:
- 1985 – 1988: Company MBL Berlin, assistant to the CEO (a company building high end audio products, such as amplifiers, subwoofers, loudspeakers)
- 1988 – 2000: Secretary, then general manager of 4-star Ambassador Berlin hotel (199 bedrooms and 5 banqueting rooms)
- 2001- 2002: General manager of 4-star Stuttgarter Hof Berlin hotel (190 bedrooms and 6 banqueting rooms)
- 2002 – 2007: General manager of 4-star Cecilienhof hotel (half museum and half boutique hotel; historic palace, home of Germany’s last Emperor’s son and family)
Christina graduated in 1983 with an Abitur (equivalent to British A-level and American SAT exam) after being a commercial correspondent in English and French. She has been involved with WFGT for the last 5 years, and speaks French, German and English.Christina can be contacted at [email protected]
EXECUTIVE GENERAL MANAGER - EUREKA SKYDECK
John Forman is the Executive General Manager of Eureka Skydeck, Eureka 89 and The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant.
In addition, John is the President of the Yarra River Business Association and Director of Victoria Tourism Industry Council and Chair of the VTIC Attractions Committee. Also, he’s a Director/Secretary of CNY United Pty Ltd – a non-for profit organisation to promote an all-inclusive Melbourne Chinese New Year Festival.
Prior to this, John had a successful career as an Area Business Manager at Red Rock Leisure.
