Created in 1989, the World Federation of Great Towers (W.F.G.T.) is an association
of international monuments working together to foster awareness and develop local
and international opportunities for promotion and data exchange among members.

Membership of the group is limited to structures which fulfill four criteria:

1. They must have the shape of a tower;
2. They must be symbolic of tourism in the town or country where they are situated
3. They must have an Observation or Viewing Deck with the purpose of receiving tourists
at the Tower
4. The construction of the tower must be completed and the tower open and functioning
as an observatory public venue.

The Organization has a commitment to develop international awareness of the World Federation of Great Towers through the following objectives:

  • The exchange of ideas and information to improve management and international promotion.
  • The sharing of technical information.
  • The international promotion of events which generate enjoyment and interchanges
    of culture, using Towers as a focus.

    • The Federation meets annually to decide on the following year's activities and formulate
    a marketing plan. Members must attend the annual meeting at least once every three years. Membership of the World Federation of Great Towers comprises an annual subscription
    of US$1,500.

    The W.F.G.T. members receive over 40 million visitors annually, representing a unique opportunity for collecting important tourist information.
